Lamberti Tower: the tower of love

In the city of love, just a short walk from the famous balcony of the Shakespearean lovers, stands the Torre dei Lamberti: from its height of 84 meters the tower overlooks the historic city of Verona, and offers a 360 ° view to those who choose to climb up it, that is unmatched and unmissable.

The Torre dei Lamberti is open every day of the year (except 25th December). To reach the panoramic terraces and the belfry, visitors can opt to use the stairs that run along the vertical inner perimeter (368 steps) or take the convenient and transparent elevator that allows you to admire the typical architectural beauty of the monument, as if you were walking.

Whilst during the day the Torre dei Lamberti is a historical monument visited and loved by tourists from around the world who choose to discover Verona and its surroundings from above, at night thanks to AGEC Ristorazione – Eventi, the Torre dei Lamberti turns into a magical and exciting location, a rooftop terrace that can host exclusive events.

Background

1172 - Construction
Built at the behest of the Lamberti family, powerful family later banished from the city and subsequently died out.
1295 - Bell Tower
The two Rengo bells (Summoning to City Council, calling up to arms) and Marangona (it signalled work hours) were placed.
1403 - Collapse
It was damaged by lightning that struck the top.
1448 - Reconstruction
Beginning of restoration work and elevation with the inclusion of the octagonal bell chamber in brick and white marble.
1463 - Completion
The reconstruction was completed and reached the current 84 metres in height.
1798 - Clock Added
At his expense Count Giovanni Sagramoso added a clock to replace the one of the nearby Torre Gardello which had stopped working.
